FLORE
The FLORE collection unfolds as an ethereal expression of restraint, where each work is guided by intention rather than excess.
Grounded in the philosophy of ikebana - the centuries-old Japanese discipline of floral arrangement - the FLORE series draws from its defining principle: that less allows more to be felt. In contrast to Western floral traditions - where flowers are gathered into dense bouquets to create fullness - ikebana finds its articulation through negative space. It is not the flower alone that speaks, but the space that surrounds it. The intervals between stems are never incidental, they are an active part of the composition that create balance, rhythm, and meaning, allowing each flower to be fully perceived.
FLORE reflects on this inherent tension between what is seen and what is withheld - exploring how absence, when thoughtfully composed, becomes its own form of presence. Rather than filling the canvas, each composition allows floral forms to exist with breath and clarity. The negative space is not void, but a force that reveals something more profound: that meaning often resides in what remains unspoken, and that what is unseen can hold equal, if not greater, resonance than what is visible.
Beneath this restraint lies a deeply personal narrative. Each flower holds a meaningful connection to Cathy, drawn from different chapters of her life. Some evoke places once lived, others echo relationships, transitions, or quiet turning points. These forms are not merely botanical - they become vessels of memory, distilled and reimagined with subtlety and care.
